Since I first heard this song, not long after it came out, I have loved it. Before Rain, I only had Lim Kim's song "Alright"; I really liked the unique sound of her voice, the overlay of male vocals for emphasis. I just think that has a cool effect.
"Rain" came just at the right time - it was fall and the rainy season had started. We got the remnants of a Japanese typhoon here on the west coast. One of my favorite parts is the subtle sound of rain in the background. I can imagine myself curled up by a window with a warm beverage in hand. It reminds me of a great ambience website called rainymood.com, it's great to listen to while studying, even as a background to your regular playlist.
One of my favorite things about this song is it is both happy and sad at the same time. Not quite bittersweet, but more like light-hearted, trying to forget past sadness. The end also feels like it lacks resolution, it just kind of stops on an odd note, and there's a lack of closure. You can interpret it however you want. (Be sure to check out the lyrics - there's english subs on the youtube vid.)
The video fits the feeling of the song perfectly. She does her solo dance in the rain, holding a bright orange umbrella.
Overall, I just love this song and it's definitely become my new favorite!
Comment Question: What song is both happy and sad to you?
I promise you won't be disappointed, so check out Lim Kim's "Rain":

If you like it, check out her other songs! She has a (fairly) new one called "Voice", and I also recommend the music video for "Alright".
